PRECISION OB/OS SOLUTION
RENKO-BASED REVERSAL TRADING FOR NINJATRADER 8
Price moves into OB/OS territory.
You’re looking to trade a reversal.
So why is it so easy to mistime the entry?
Price can keep moving in the same direction even when a reversal looks close. Precision OB/OS Solution gives you a structured, 4-step Renko framework to evaluate when a reversal setup is complete, when to keep waiting, and when an entry is no longer worth the risk.
Know when to consider a reversal, without trying to pick the exact top or bottom.
The market can remain overbought throughout a strong rally or oversold during a sustained decline. Price may continue making new highs or lows long after those conditions first appear.
Even the first Renko brick in the opposite direction may be nothing more than a temporary pullback.
If you trade reversals, you face 2 difficult timing decisions.
01 Enter before the reversal is confirmed. The original trend may still have enough momentum to continue against your position and hit your stop.02 Wait until the move is obvious.Price may already have traveled several Renko bricks. Your stop may need to be farther away, while the next support or resistance area leaves less room for profit.
Both problems point to the same challenge: An extreme reading tells you when to pay attention, but not when a reversal setup is ready to trade.
02 / THE TOOLKIT
Why not rely on a single indicator?
A potential reversal can look convincing before the market has provided enough confirmation. Renko and each indicator help you assess a different part of the setup, but no single signal tells the whole story.
01 Renko
Renko
What it helps you assessShows whether price has made a clear directional move and helps you spot the first signs of a turn.
What to keep in mindOne brick changing direction doesn’t confirm a reversal.
02 Keltner
Superior Keltner
What it helps you assessHelps identify the first meaningful countertrend reaction when price closes beyond the opposite band.
What to keep in mindThis initial signal isn’t enough to enter.
03 Momentum
Momentum Pro
What it helps you assessHelps assess whether momentum is building in the reversal direction rather than fading after a short-lived bounce.
What to keep in mindA momentum shift doesn’t mean the entry still offers favorable reward-to-risk.
04 RSI
Superior RSI
What it helps you assessEstablishes the OB/OS context and shows when buying or selling strength shifts, with a cross of 50 providing final confirmation.
What to keep in mindEven with a complete checklist, you still need to evaluate your stop and target.
Together, Renko and these 3 indicators support a defined confirmation process, rather than leaving you to weigh isolated signals.
03 / THE FRAMEWORK
The reversal checklist
4 steps. One required sequence.
Every setup follows the same order: market context, the Keltner reversal signal, momentum confirmation, and finally RSI confirmation.
BUY SETUP
Buy Setup — 4-Step reversal checklist
BUY / STEP 01
Market context
Clear Renko decline. Lower Keltner band slopes down, upper band tracks falling bricks, and RSI enters OS.
BUY / STEP 02
Price reversal
While RSI is still oversold, a completed bullish Renko brick closes above the upper Keltner band.
BUY / STEP 03
Momentum confirmation
After step 2, Momentum Plot crosses above the Zero Line.
BUY / STEP 04
Entry confirmation
After step 3, RSI rises from OS and crosses above 50. Consider a long entry.
SELL SETUP
Sell Setup — 4-Step reversal checklist
SELL / STEP 01
Market context
Clear Renko rally. Upper Keltner band slopes up, lower band tracks rising bricks, and RSI enters OB.
SELL / STEP 02
Price reversal
While RSI is still overbought, a completed bearish Renko brick closes below the lower Keltner band.
SELL / STEP 03
Momentum confirmation
After step 2, Momentum Plot crosses below the Zero Line.
SELL / STEP 04
Entry confirmation
After step 3, RSI falls from OB and crosses below 50. Consider a short entry.
The order matters.A Momentum crossover before the Keltner trigger, or an RSI crossover before momentum confirmation, cannot count toward a later setup.
The real value is knowing how to put the indicators together.
An overbought or oversold RSI reading, a Keltner reversal signal, and a Momentum crossover don’t form a complete trading strategy on their own.
You still need to know which signals count, the order in which they must occur, when an apparent reversal should be rejected, and how to evaluate the risk before entering.
The Precision OB/OS Solution playbook brings those decisions into one consistent trading process.
It explains the reasoning behind the strategy, demonstrates the confirmation sequence on actual charts, and provides practical guidance to help you apply the rules consistently.

CHAPTER 01
Trading reversals with discipline
Reversal trading requires a structured approach to confirmation and a clearly defined risk plan before entering a trade. Learn the three principles that help traders approach reversal opportunities with discipline.
Read Full Chapter 1 Collapse Chapter 1
Reversal trading is appealing because it offers traders the opportunity to enter early in a new directional move. But the market does not tell us in advance where the final high or low will form. Rather than trying to predict the turning point, we need a structured approach to confirmation and a clearly defined risk plan before entering a trade.
Futures are leveraged markets. When a trade moves in your favor, profits can accumulate quickly. When it moves against you, losses can also grow beyond expectations and, in some circumstances, exceed your initial margin. The CFTC emphasizes the importance of understanding the products you trade and assessing your ability to bear the associated risks. Treat every signal generated by Precision OB/OS Solution as an opportunity to evaluate, not a guarantee that the market will move as expected. [7]
The challenge with reversal trading is that the first signals often appear while the prevailing trend is still strong. A Renko brick changing color may simply reflect a pullback. Momentum may shift briefly before returning to its previous direction. Even when RSI crosses above or below 50, it does not necessarily mean price is about to establish a sustained trend in the new direction.
That is why the solution does not attempt to pinpoint every market top and bottom. Instead, it waits for additional confirmation, giving traders a clearer rationale for entering a trade.
3 principles to keep in mind before every trade
1. Manage your risk
Determine the maximum amount you are willing to lose before entering a trade. Your risk percentage is a personal decision and should reflect the instrument, Stop distance, account size, and individual drawdown limits. The Bundle does not prescribe a fixed percentage because what is appropriate for one trader may not be suitable for another.
2. Set your stop before entry
Define the point that invalidates the setup before placing the trade, not afterward. Entering first and looking for a reason to place the Stop later reverses the proper sequence. It can lead to placing the Stop at a level that feels “acceptable” rather than at the point where the setup’s underlying premise is genuinely invalidated.
3. Follow the checklist, not your emotions
Do not turn a signal that has yet to meet the required criteria into a trade simply because price is moving quickly or you fear missing out. This is where personal discipline and system design intersect: a good checklist protects traders only when they follow it under the greatest psychological pressure, not just when everything is clear and easy.
Reference Note – Futures Trading RisksThe CFTC warns that futures are leveraged products that can result in substantial losses, which may exceed the initial margin in some circumstances. Define your Stop and risk level before entry rather than trying to rescue a trade after price moves against you. No single risk percentage is appropriate for every account.

CHAPTER 02
Why traders often get reversal entries wrong
Explore common reversal trading mistakes, from relying too heavily on OB/OS readings to entering too early, too late, or without the required market context.
Read Full Chapter 2 Collapse Chapter 2
Recognizing that price has made a strong move up or down is easy. The harder part is knowing whether it is time to look for a reversal or whether price is simply pausing before continuing in its original direction. The five scenarios below explain why traders need a structured confirmation process rather than relying on the feeling that price has “moved too far”.
2.1. Entering OB/OS doesn’t mean a reversal is coming
When RSI enters Oversold territory, many traders immediately think, “Price has fallen sharply. It may be ready to bounce.” When RSI enters Overbought territory, they start looking for Sell entries, assuming price has risen too far. But anyone who has traded through a strong trend knows that RSI can remain in extreme territory for an extended period while price continues to make new highs or lows. Fidelity also highlights this behavior in its explanation of how to use RSI. [5]
The mistake is not in watching OB/OS levels. It is in treating them as Buy or Sell buttons. In this solution, RSI entering extreme territory is simply a prompt to start watching the market more closely. Before entering a trade, traders still need to see a reversal response from price and work through the subsequent confirmation steps.
2.2. A few bullish bricks don’t confirm a reversal.
After a series of bearish Renko bricks, seeing 1 or 2 bullish bricks can easily create the impression that a bottom has formed. But price may simply be making a brief pullback before continuing lower. What traders really need to know is not whether the bricks have changed color, but whether buying pressure is strong enough to persist beyond the initial reaction. Entering a Buy too quickly at the first green brick means betting on a reversal that has not yet been confirmed.
2.3. The cost of early and late entries
This is a very real dilemma for reversal traders. Enter too early, and price may continue in the prevailing trend and hit your Stop just before the actual reversal begins. Wait too long, and you may enter after price has already covered much of the move. At that point, the Stop is often farther away, while the remaining distance to the Target is shorter.
With Renko, a clear sequence of bricks that forms after the move is complete can make the Entry look much easier in hindsight than it was in real time. That is why a trade should be evaluated based on what the trader knew at the time of entry, not on the outcome visible afterward.
2.4. Knowing when to stay out
Many traders like to trade reversals in a ranging market, buying near the lower boundary and selling near the upper boundary. That approach has its own logic, but it is not the type of opportunity Precision OB/OS Solution is designed to prioritize.
The solution looks for a sufficiently clear directional move, reflected in the Renko brick sequence and Keltner, that pushes RSI into OB/OS territory. The focus is on potential changes in direction after a meaningful price move, not every small rise and fall within a narrow range.
With this solution, knowing when to stay out is not simply a matter of whether the market is ranging or the bricks keep changing color. The key issue is whether price has made a sufficiently clear directional move for RSI to enter OB/OS territory and for Keltner to establish the required context.
Without that initial move, a few bricks turning in the opposite direction do not constitute the kind of opportunity the checklist is designed to identify. This is also why Renko was chosen as the charting foundation, rather than simply as another way to display price bars.
Reference Note – RSI Can Remain in OB/OS Territory for Extended PeriodsAccording to Fidelity’s RSI guide, during a strong trend, the indicator can remain in Overbought or Oversold territory for an extended period. This is why OB/OS should be used to monitor market conditions, not as an independent Buy or Sell signal.

Even when all 4 confirmations are complete, an entry may no longer offer a favorable reward-to-risk ratio.
If the final RSI confirmation comes after price has already moved several Renko bricks, the potential reward may be too limited relative to the logical stop-loss level.
Precision OB/OS Solution helps you recognize not only when a reversal setup is complete, but also when an opportunity may be better left alone.
Sideways Filter: Identify noisy market conditions before evaluating a reversal.
Precision OB/OS Solution focuses on reversals after sustained directional moves. A sideways market presents a different environment, where repeated changes in direction may produce apparent reversal signals without the required preceding move.
Sideways Filter gives you additional visual context for recognizing these conditions.
01 Visual range detectionHighlights potentially noisy areas using configurable boxes and lines.02 Flexible oscillator analysisSupports oscillator-based inputs for identifying market conditions.03 Custom thresholdsAllows you to define your own levels rather than relying exclusively on an oscillator’s default settings.04 Adjustable price referencesSupports confirmed swing points or high/low references for its calculations.
Sideways Filter complements the reversal framework by helping you identify unsuitable market conditions. It doesn’t replace the 4-step entry checklist.
07 / DECISION CLARITY
Clearer decisions at every stage of a potential reversal.
01 Know when an RSI extreme deserves attentionFocus on overbought and oversold conditions reached after meaningful Renko moves, rather than treating every extreme reading as a trading opportunity.02 Know when the reversal setup is completeFollow a defined Keltner, Momentum, and RSI confirmation sequence instead of combining unrelated signals.03 Recognize when a trade is better left aloneIdentify incomplete setups, unsuitable market conditions, and late entries where the remaining profit potential doesn’t justify the risk.04 Evaluate opposing signals without abandoning your trade planUse the same confirmation principles when assessing potential reversals against your open position, while keeping your predefined exit rules in place.05 Review trades against a consistent processUse the checklist to evaluate completed trades, skipped opportunities, and historical setups without relying on hindsight.
The value is a repeatable process for evaluating reversal opportunities, not a promise that every confirmed setup will succeed.

10 / QUESTIONS
Questions you may have
Which Renko settings should I use?
The playbook includes examples using ninZaRenko 20/3 on NQ DEC26, along with suggested configurations.
These are starting points for study and testing, not settings guaranteed to work across all markets.
Can I use the solution on ES, gold, or forex?
The documented chart examples focus on NQ futures.
You can investigate the framework on other instruments, but settings and performance require separate testing. Results observed on NQ should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.
How many bricks can pass before RSI confirmation is too late?
The playbook doesn’t establish a universal limit.
The decision depends on how far price has moved, the distance to a logical stop-loss level, and the remaining room before the next target or support/resistance area.
If the potential reward no longer justifies the risk, a completed checklist may still be a reason to pass.
How should I set my stop loss and take profit?
The playbook discusses using the relevant reversal swing as a potential stop-loss reference: Below the swing low for a buy or above the swing high for a sell.
You can evaluate profit targets against nearby support or resistance while keeping position size within your predefined risk limits.
There is no single stop, target, or risk percentage suitable for every trade.
Is there a verified win rate or backtest report?
The current playbook doesn’t provide verified performance statistics.
You should evaluate the strategy through historical analysis, Playback, backtesting, and recorded trading results before drawing conclusions about its effectiveness.
Renko backtests may also differ from Playback and live execution because historical bar construction and order simulation can affect results.
No technical confirmation method guarantees profitable trades.
