Bracket Ordering streamlines the process of placing bracket orders by allowing you to set up two opposing pending orders with a single click. This tool integrates the One Cancels the Other (OCO) mechanism, ensuring seamless trade execution without the hassle of manually managing multiple orders—typically requiring four separate actions.
Each bracket order is positioned at a predefined tick offset from the current price, which you can customize. Adjustments are quick and intuitive, as you can modify the offset directly on the order line.
The tool supports four types of pending orders: Limit (LMT), Stop (STP), Market If Touched (MIT), Stop Limit (SLM)
Additionally, you can specify the contract quantity and select your ATM strategy straight from the control panel, eliminating the need to switch to the chart trader.
Example:
If you choose a Stop (STP) order for market entry, the system will simultaneously place a BUY STOP above the price and a SELL STOP below it. When the price moves up and triggers the BUY STOP, a market buy order is executed, and the SELL STOP is automatically canceled. Conversely, if the price drops and activates the SELL STOP, the opposite scenario unfolds.
This smart ordering mechanism enhances execution efficiency, reducing manual effort and ensuring precision in trade management.
Scenarios for Using Bracket Ordering
1. Range-Bound & Sideways Market Trading
In choppy or range-bound markets where price fluctuates within a defined support and resistance zone, you can optimize your strategy by placing a Buy pending order at support and a Sell pending order at resistance. This approach allows you to capitalize on both directions, ensuring swift execution as price tests key levels.
Limit (LMT) orders work exceptionally well in these conditions. If you anticipate a reversal near support or resistance, you can quickly set a Buy LMT order at support and a Sell LMT order at resistance—eliminating the need for constant chart monitoring.
2. Breakout Trading
Breakouts often present high-reward opportunities, but entering trades at the right moment can be difficult as price moves rapidly post-breakout confirmation. Bracket Ordering enables precise execution by positioning orders in advance, ensuring you don’t miss out on momentum-driven moves or get caught off guard by sudden volatility.
3. Scalping
For high-speed scalping strategies, Bracket Ordering allows you to instantly place Buy and Sell pending orders at predefined price levels, ensuring every second counts in fast-moving markets. You can dynamically adjust your trade execution in real time based on price action. For example:
- Set a Sell pending order near recent highs for Swing trading.
- Position a Buy pending order at a support zone to prepare for a Pullback trade on retracements.
4. Trading During High-Impact News Events
News-driven markets often experience extreme price swings, leading to rapid spikes or drops. Bracket Ordering helps you seize trading opportunities by placing bracketed orders in advance, allowing for seamless trade execution while simultaneously managing risk. The system automatically locks in profits or cuts losses when needed, ensuring capital protection and maximizing gains during volatile conditions.
By automating order placement with a single click, Bracket Ordering lets you focus on your trading strategy rather than manual execution, enhancing efficiency and precision in every market condition.
